Publishing a Book From the Library Explorer or Editor

When you're ready to publish your document, simply tell Author-it to publish the output formats you need. You may do this several times during the process of creating a document, while you make changes to the document after review. Overall, though, you will spend far more time creating and editing your document than publishing its outputs.

Note: Books must be added to a profile before they can be published.

To Publish a Selected Document:

  1. Open the Book in the Editor, choose Publish > Publish To, then select the profile.

    -or-

Select the Book in the Library Explorer, then:

    • Right-click and choose Publish To, then select the profile

      -or-

    • In the main window choose Publish > Publish To, then select the profile.
  2. Progress is shown as Author-it publishes the selected Book.

    Publishing in Progress

The whole process may take anywhere from seconds to hours, depending on the size and complexity of your document and the performance of your computer.

Note: Publishing works on the concept of submitting, queuing, and then publishing jobs. When you submit a job, the Publisher is launched to process that job. While it is publishing, you can submit further jobs which are added to a queue. Once the Publisher finishes the current job, the next job in the queue is started.
