Reviewing Changes and Making a Site Live

The Review Site tab is used to move content from review mode to live mode, and display the modification history of the items used in the webpages. The Review Site tab gives you the option to review all details, or work with content, experience or global details separately:

  • Review All displays information from the content, experience, and global level
  • Review Content displays modification details relating to pages, sitemap entries, strings, and files
  • Review Experiences displays modification details relating to templates and experience level placeholders
  • Review Global Placeholders displays modification details relating to global level placeholder

The following steps describe the process followed by Author-it Website Manager when content is initially pushed out to live mode. Once the site has been made live you should manually create a rollback point. Future updates to the live site automatically create the new rollback point.

To Review Changes and Make a Site Live:

  1. Open the Staging screen
  2. Select the Review Site tab
  3. Select the items you want to make live (either Review All, or Review Content, Review Experiences, or Review Global Placeholders) and choose Review Changes>>

  4. The Review Site summary page is displayed. The summary lists items and associations used by Author-it Website Manager, including date, time, and user modifications for each item. Items are color coded to easily identify new items, or changes made since the last review.
    • New items that are being added to the site are shown in blue
    • Items that have been updated are shown in green
    • Items that have been deleted are shown in red (using strikethrough text)
    • Items that have not changed are shown in grey

The Experiences and Content panes display a summary of the items used. A full list of items in each sub group is displayed by choosing the [show] link next to the item summary.

  5. Select the items that will be made live and choose Summary.
  6. Complete a final review the items listed in the summary screen.
  7. Choose Make Live to move the content from review mode to live mode.

An update report is displayed showing the status of each of the items. Items that updated successfully are shown in black, items that have not updated successfully are shown in red.

Important: Items that have not updated will affect the success of creating the website, and should be investigated and corrected.

When the update has successfully completed the live website is ready to view.
