Creating a Rollback Point

Author-it Website Manager provides a rollback mechanism to revert the website to a previous state. A manual rollback point is created after the live website is initially created, and automatically created when the live site is updated.

The rollback point takes a snap shot of all files and associations currently used to create the live website. A copy of the content and experience files from the live site is added to a rollback point folder located in the Rollback folder on the web server. The rollback point folder is named using a combination of the date and time the rollback point was created.

A manual rollback point can be created at any time after content has been made live.

To Create a Rollback Point:

  1. Open the Staging screen
  2. Select the Create Rollback Point tab

Information on the Rollback point is displayed including the date, time, and user making the modification

  3. Choose Create Rollback

    Create Rollback1

  4. A summary of the rollback point lists each item type that has been backed up when the rollback point was created.

    Create rollback 2

Note: A rollback point cannot be created before content is made live. If you try to create a rollback point when the content is in review mode only, a message is displayed advising that a rollback point cannot be created yet.
