ionCube Loader Needs to be Installed

Problem

The following error message is displayed in the browser when I try to open Author-it Website Manager.

Site error: the file [encoded php file] requires the ionCube PHP Loader ionCube_loader_win_x.x.dll to be installed by the site administrator.

Reason

ionCube PHP Loader is installed on the server as part of the security for Author-it Website Manager. Usually, the ionCube loader is downloaded and installed automatically by the Author-it Website Manager installer. Sometimes the ionCube loader is not installed correctly, for example, due to server configuration or no Internet access during the installation.

Solution

Confirm the reference to the ionCube loader has been added to the php.ini file. If the reference is correct run the ioncube-loader-helper.php file in your browser to identify the cause. The ionCube-loader-helper.php file is located in the ionCube folder. If you cannot locate an ionCube folder, download the latest loader from ionCube directly.

To Run the ionCube-loader-helper.php File:

  1. Open the browser and run the ionCube loader helper file. The URL will be similiar to: http://localhost/awm/ioncube/ioncube-loader-helper.php
  2. Follow the instructions to correct any configuration issues identified
