How Webpages are Assembled
Webpages are dynamically assembled using content (text and images), HTML templates, and functionality.
- An Experience is created in Website Manager Admin for each end-user experience. The experience includes associations between content, templates and functionality used to assemble each webpage.
- The webpage is assembled from content created in Author-it, and usually includes a variety of content types. The author assigns Website Manager variable values to each topic object that tell Website Manager how the topic will be used when the webpage is assembled. The values tell Website Manager about the sitemap structure, which topics create new webpages (and the template to use), and which topics are used as parts of a webpage.
The following example shows a page as it appears with placeholders. Website Manager assembles the page using Author-it content (the body, tip, and announcement topics), functionality (menu and random advert), and HTML files (banner and footer).

- When the website visitor requests a page from the menu, Website Manager uses the settings you defined to assemble the page and return it to the browser.
