The Components of a Project
Creating a document in Author-it is like building with Lego bricks - you construct your document from many smaller pieces, which are called "objects". There are different types of object which have different functions (like a Lego roofing tile or a corner brick).
Creating a project in Author-it Project Manager is much the same. You work with a number of different entities that make up your project:
- Summary Tasks are made up of a logical group of related tasks, usually representing a common phase of your Project.
- Tasks are the "Building Blocks" that make up the project. Each task is a distinct and single piece of work that is required to complete the project.
- Prerequisite and Dependent Tasks cannot start or finish until another task has been completed.
- Milestones are used to mark a particular stage of progression of your project, and have a zero duration period.
