Inserting a New Linked Image

Linked images are added to the topic using the Create New Image dialog box. When you base the File object on a Linked template the Image Source and File Path are updated with the fields from the template.

Using the Linked URL images you can access images stored on a webserver. When the Linked URL template is chosen, the Image Source field is updated to show Link to URL [http://...], and the URL pathway that has been assigned to the template. Add the image's file name to the File Name field and select the Preview button, when the image is located on the webserver the preview is displayed.

To Insert a New Linked Image into a Topic:

  1. Move the cursor to the point in the topic where the image will be added, click on the mouse to create the insertion point.
  2. Choose the Insert image button from the Topic Toolbar to open the Insert Picutre dialog box.
  3. Add the File object name in the Description field.
  4. Select one of the Linked File object templates from the Based on Template drop-down list. The form will refresh and display the File Path set in the template.
  5. Add the image's full file name.
  6. Choose the Preview button to display the image in the preview pane.
  7. Choose Create to add the image to the topic, and create the new File object in the library.
