Object Not Included in Offline Library

Problem

I created an offline library but some of the objects were not included.

Reason

There are several reasons why this can occur. Author-it creates a log file for every offline library, storing the file at the location specified for the offline library. Entries are added for each action involved with creating and checking in the library, including errors and warnings for missing files (and the reason why an object was not included).

  • The object was already locked by another user, or the object was already checked out to another offline library.

Objects must be locked in the main library before they can be added to the offline library. The log file adds an entry for each missing file, for example **Warning - Unable to lock 'X5000 Description'. Locked by 'Anne Ortha'

Solution: Check with any users to ensure all files you need to include in the offline library will be available. You may need to check in your offline library, then recreate it when the objects are available.

  • The file was not found when the offline library was created.

Many objects refer to external files (for example books have word publishing templates, or file objects may be linked to external pictures files). This problem occurs when the file listed was unable to be found at the location specified in the object.

Solution: Ensure the file is in the specified location, or update the path in the object to the correct location.

  • The file was not included because it was larger than the file size set in offline library options.

Solution: Change the size for external files that will be included when the library is created.
