Keyboard Shortcuts For Selecting Text

Problem:

Putting your cursor to the beginning of a word and using CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT ARROW selects the word to the left. However, if you repeat this action, subsequent words are selected but the first word is no longer selected.

Workaround:

Use your mouse to select the text.
