Checking Out Objects and Folders

Any objects you plan to edit in the offline library need to be checked out. When an offline library is created, the objects or folders marked to "check out" are locked in the main library and only available for editing in the offline library. An object can only be checked-out in one library, and will be locked in all other libraries (including other offline libraries).

To Check Out an Object or Folder:

  • Drag and drop the folder or object onto the offline library folder.

    -or-

  • Right-click the object and choose When Creating Offline Library > Check out from the shortcut menu. The objects will be added to the offline library folder.

    -or-

  • Right-click the folder and choose When Creating Offline Library > Check out from the shortcut menu. This will mark all objects in the folder to be checked out, even if other objects are added to the folder after you have marked it. The folder icon displays with a check mark Check Out Folder Icon indicating the objects will be checked out when the offline library is created.

After the offline library has been created objects that have been checked out are displayed in the main library with a black padlock beside them. These objects cannot be edited in the main library.

Note: Templates and styles can be modified in the main library while an offline library is checked out. When the offline library is checked in again the new template or style is reapplied to any objects that use it.
