Author-it 5.0.10.510 (12-Dec-2007)

Upgrading to Author-it 5.0.10.510

This is a full installation package so if Author-it 5.0 is already installed we recommend you fully uninstall your current version of Author-it 5.0 first.

  1. Ensure all users are logged out of your library, then backup all your libraries, graphics, templates, and any other supporting files before you begin. If using SQL Server you can backup your library by exporting it to JET provided the library is under 2GB, otherwise have your SQL Server administrator back it up for you.
  2. Uninstall Author-it 5.0 using Windows Control Panel.
  3. Run the Author-it Setup program to begin the installation process and follow the steps.

Detailed installation instructions, should you need them, can be found in the Knowledge Center.

The following issues have been resolved in this build:

  • Improvements have been made to HTML publishing performance. Tests to date show a reduction of between 30 to 40% over 5.0.8.317 and 5.0.9.441.
  • A number of issues around importing have been resolved.
  • It is now possible to apply a release state to the currently open topic using the Assign > Release State button on the Books Edit ribbon.
  • Hyperlinks inside an embedded topic using the Embedded Inline or Embedded Block option now resolve correctly when publishing to Word or PDF.
  • When Version Control was used in conjunction with Localization Manager, a Library Update was incorrectly bringing in the active version of the versioned object, but failing to update (and make redundant or inactive) previous versions.
  • If you removed all books and/or book templates from a publishing profile, on closing an reopening the profile the "all books" check box was incorrectly checked automatically, meaning any book could be published using that profile.
  • Books based on no template, but assigned to specific publishing profiles were not available when publishing from the publishing console.
  • When applying a variable and choosing (none) from the style, the book stopped publishing at the topic using the variable with an error: "The given key was not found in the dictionary".
  • PNG is now listed as a file type for Linked Picture Files
  • Importing from another library was not displaying the correct library folders.
  • When importing Word documents with Em dashes, the em dashes were incorrectly imported as hyphens.
  • Some libraries failed to export to SQL with a "System Resource Exceeded" error.
  • Choosing Settings > Publishing Settings in Author-it Administrator was not opening the Publishing Settings window on some libraries.

The following enhancements have been made in this build:

  • Integration with acrocheck™.

acrocheck™ is the quality assurance tool provided by acrolinx. It provides a means of checking the quality of content at the time it is written to help ensure that proper terminology is used, and that the content is written in a way that conforms with an organization's guidelines. Among other things, acrocheck checks terminology, style, grammar, and spelling.

If installed, acrocheck integrates seamlessly and a new acrocheck command group displays on the Editor's Review tab.
