The Process of Creating an Offline Library

When you are unable to connect to an Author-it library directly, you can work with an offline library.

The procedure works as follows:

  1. Connect to the main library
  2. Enable your offline library
  3. Mark objects you want to edit offline (checked-out objects are "read-write")
  4. Mark objects you want to view offline (available objects are "read-only")
  5. Set the location where your offline library will be created
  6. Create the offline library
  7. Take the offline library away with you
  8. Work on the offline library
  9. Bring the offline library back again (copy the updated library to the location set in step 5)
  10. Check-in the offline library
  11. You may be prompted to select a path to store any new external files that you linked to while offline

Working with offline libraries

Important: Create and work with one offline library at a time. Each offline author can create and work in their own offline library. However, they should check in their existing offline library before creating a new library. If a new library is created before check-in, their old offline library can no longer be used.
