Importing in a Batch

When you have multiple files in different folders to import at once, if you wish to change the sequence files are imported in, or if you want to select a different profile to use, you can use Author-it's Batch Import.

Note: Project files (*.hpj and *.hhp) cannot be batch imported.

To Import Files in a Batch:

  1. In the main window, choose Import > All Documents > Batch Import. The Author-it Import Wizard opens.
  2. Select the type of files you want to import from the file type list.
  3. Choose Add. The Select a File window appears, browse to the files you are going to import. You can select more than one file at a time if they are in the same folder.
  4. Choose Open. The Select a File window closes and the files you selected are added to the list.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to select files from a different folder, and continue until you have selected all the files you want to import.

Note: To remove files from the list of files to be imported select the name of the file or files you no longer want to import, and choose Remove. The files you selected are removed from the list.

  6. Use Move Up or Move Down to arrange the files in the order you want them imported.
  7. Select a Profile to use for the import. If you don't select a profile, Author-it uses the default profile for the file type selected.
  8. You can either confirm each step of the import (recommended), or import the files unguided using the profile rules.
  9. Choose Next.
    • If you select Confirm each step, the Topic Structure Wizard appears.
    • If you don't select this option, the import proceeds until it has completed.
