Translating the XML

Once a Translation Job has been exported as XML, it needs to be sent for translation.

The following files are created during the Job Export. Copies of these should be sent to your Translators:

File	Purpose
AuthorIT.xsd	XML Schema Definition file that validates the JobName.xml file.
AuthorIT.xslt	XSL Transformation file that allows JobName.xml to be opened in a browser and transformed into something that looks like a document rather than a list of nodes.
JobName.xml	This is the exported XML, the file has been named after our Translation Job.

Translating the XML is done outside of Author-it. Your translator will need to be familiar with translating XML using a translation memory or other tool that can translate XML files (such as TRADOS Tag Editor).

Note: To view an exported job (XML file) you will need IE6 or another browser that supports the W3C recommendations.
IE5 and IE5.5 do not interpret the XSLT correctly as they were released with only a "working draft" of the W3C XSL recommendation. The specification changed before the "official" release but IE5/IE5.5 didn't.
IE6 will display the XML files perfectly and is compliant with the W3C XSL recommendation.
