Exporting an Object to XML
The XML Export enables you to transfer information between libraries. Search for the objects you want to transfer, then save them to an XML file. You can then import the objects into another Author-it library.
To Export Objects to XML:
- Use the Object Search to identify all objects you want to export.
If you want to export all objects used by a particular Book, make sure Of type is set to (All Types), and the Book you want to export is defined in In book.
- The search results returns all objects used by the Book in question, except:
If the object is in a folder or release state where you do not have list permissions.
Note: The Book and sub books are also included in the search results.
- Select all objects (Ctrl+A), then right-click and choose XML > Save to File.... The Save As window opens.
- Choose the location you wish to save the XML file to, and enter a filename. By default, Author-it names the file
Author-it Objects.xml. - Save your changes. Author-it displays the progress as the XML file is created.
